Legacy & Endowment Fund
Give a gift that will sustain the legacy of Bill Reid for future generations
Bill Reid’s aesthetic and cultural legacy is irrefutable. He believed in bringing together Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples to build awareness and understanding of Northwest Coast art and culture. Your legacy gift will support Bill Reid’s vision by:
- Creating opportunities for emerging Indigenous artists and curators
- Continuing to grow and showcase the collection of Bill Reid's magnificent works
- Fostering lifelong appreciation and education of Northwest Coast art and culture in children and youth
- Contributing to knowledge sharing and documentation of Northwest Coast art through exhibitions, publications and public programs
The Bill Reid Gallery invites you to keep its programs sustainable for the next 100 years and offers a variety of ways to make a legacy gift.
Endowment Fund
Established by a generous gift from Chief 7idansuu James Hart, the Gallery began growing the Endowment Fund during Bill Reid’s Centennial year in 2020 to ensure his legacy is honoured and celebrated in perpetuity.
The Bill Reid Foundation Endowment Fund provides steady and consistent revenue for the Bill Reid Gallery. Your one-time gift, multi-year pledge or planned gift is gratefully accepted and is an investment in emerging Indigenous artists and curators, and in public education about Indigenous culture.
The Scott Hean Mentorship Fund
Scott Hean had a deep love for West Coast Art which included serving as the Board Chair for the Bill Reid Foundation from 2007 to 2014. Through his energy and commitment, the Bill Reid Gallery of Northwest Coast Art has developed into a meaningful and important museum in downtown Vancouver. Scott was an advocate of the arts and always supported the Gallery’s initiatives to mentor a new generation of Indigenous youth interested in the arts.
The Scott Hean Mentorship Fund is part of the Endowment Fund and has been established by his family to honour Scott’s legacy, and to ensure his passion for the arts is upheld across generations. This Fund strengthens the Gallery’s focus on the development of emerging artists and builds skills for Indigenous artists through the Gallery’s paid internships, guest curator program, and other mentorship opportunities that provide tangible experience to develop successful careers in the arts.
To support Scott Hean’s belief in making a lasting difference in the lives of Indigenous youth you can make a donation to the mentorship fund. If you prefer to make a gift of securities, would like to discuss planned giving, need a US tax receipt or have any questions about the Fund please contact:
