Join us for an exciting evening of burlesque performances from Monday Blues and RainbowGlitz of Virago Nation! In celebration of Pride Month and the opening of our newest mezzanine exhibition The Sum of All, the gallery will be hosting a fun evening showcasing the two performers along with a set from DJ O Show, featured MC by Peaches N Screams.
Please note: This event is recommended to those who are 19+, however, audiences of all ages who are looking to celebrate Pride are welcome.
Monday Blues
Introducing Monday Blues—an electrifying Afro-Indigenous (Ewe-Secpwépemc) burlesque performer and storyteller. Her performances seamlessly blend seduction and empowerment, delivering a resounding message: liberation is incredibly sexy.
As a proud member of Virago Nation, an esteemed all-Indigenous burlesque collective, Monday channels her art for healing and resistance. Offstage, she's a celebrated Indigenous artist and entrepreneur, known for @mondaymayjewelry and proudly signed to @superaturals.modelling. Monday is also one of the featured artists in The Sum of All, currently on display at the Bill Reid Gallery.
Experience her earthshaking stage presence, as she infuses every act with ancestral magic and dedication to amplifying representation within her art and community.
RainbowGlitz
RainbowGlitz is Turtle Island’s (North America) very own love medicine and so-called Vancouver's resident rainbow slut. This Haida, Squamish, Musqueam (Indigenous) and Black artist started her burlesque journey in 2013. She loves to mix culture and Pussycat Doll hip-hop with a nerdy and exotic stripper twist. She is a founding member of Virago Nation. The Indigi-B Barbie rainbow Doll edition is always beat to the creator. From her multifaceted art to teaching you how to decolonize your sexuality and gender!! She is ready to heal you with her colourful slutty medicine.  
DJ O Show
Orene Askew, also known as DJ O Show, comes from a diverse background and is driven by her passion. She is Afro-Indigenous and a proud member of the Squamish Nation. She carries the Squamish name Tumáliya, it belonged to her great-great grandfather. Feeling as though she stood out in a unique way, she embraced both her cultural backgrounds and incorporates the teachings she has learned into everything she does. DJ O Show has experience teaching with an inspired approach. She is an inspirational speaker, having traveled across the country to bring ambition and drive to all generations, and is a former member of Squamish Nation Council. She has hosted/MC’d/DJ’d for numerous clients such as the Vancouver Canucks, BC Lions, Vancouver Whitecaps, Vancouver Indigenous Fashion Week, and opened for Kevin Hart and Russell Peters at the Great Outdoors Comedy Festival. DJ O Show is the recipient of a 2015 BC Indigenous Business Award, a 2018 Stand Out Award from the Vancouver Pride Society, a 2021 Alumni of Excellence Award from Capilano University, and a 2022 International Indigenous Hip Hop Award for DJ of the Year. She is also a featured artist in The Sum of All.
Peaches N Screams
Peaches N Screams is a dynamic drag monster, celebrated for their revolutionary presence and unapologetic expression. Hailing from the bountiful lands of British Columbia and taking over the West Coast quicker than you can scream, Peaches has carved out a mesmerizing niche for themselves.  Afro-Indigenous royalty and trans icon; within two years of their drag career, they’ve been heavily inspired by community-driven activism and queer BIPOC revolutionaries before them. Plus she can dance a little. Peaches N Screams is a rising star and truly one of one. 
Virago Nation 
A collective of Indigenous artists on a mission to reclaim Indigenous sexuality from the toxic effects of colonization. Through humour, seduction, pop culture and politics, Virago Nation shows that Indigenous women, femmes, non-binary and two-spirit folk are thriving outside outdated colonial structures and designing dynamic multi-faceted sexual identities rooted in their own desires while doing so.
