One of Canada's much-honoured and internationally-collected Haida artist, bill Reid embraced diverse art forms in various media, from exquisite jewellery in silver and gold to cedar totem poles and monumental bronze sculptures. He was instrumental in inspiring several First Nations to reclaim their cultural heritage.
Bill Reid created, among his best known sculptures, The Spirit of Haida Gwaii at the Canadian Chancery in Washington, DC. (The Black Canoe,1991) and its twin at the Vancouver International Airport (The Jade Canoe, 1996). Building upon the broad range of his artistic expressions. Bill Reid translated his original designs of animal crests into limited editions serigraphs, woodcuts, lithographs, and drawings. These are reproductions of those serigraphs.
