Sasquatch Art MugFrancis Horne Sr. (Coast Salish)
Sasquatch is said to be a large, ape-like creature that lives primarily in the forests stretching from the West Coast of British Columbia to Northern California, and to a lesser extent throughout North America. The word Sasquatch is believed to be an Anglicization of the Salish word Sasq’ets, meaning “wild man” or “hairy man.” The Chehalis Band, now known as the Sts’ailes First Nation claim a close bond with Sas’qets, and believe it has the ability to move between the physical and spiritual realm (The Canadian Encyclopedia - online).
