Gallery will be open 11 am – 3 pm
The Canadian government designated September 30th—the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation this year for the first time and was created in response to Truth and Reconciliation Call to Action #80.
In honour of National Day for Truth and Reconciliation/Orange Shirt Day, the Bill Reid Gallery of Northwest Coast Art will be open 11 am to 3 pm.
What you can do on September 30 - National Day for Truth and Reconciliation:
Visit the Gallery and learn more about Northwest Coast arts and cultures. This is an opportunity to learn, reflect, make connections, and take action in redressing more than 150 years of injustice.
Purchase and read books from our Gallery Shop Book section.
Stop by the Gallery Shop Orange Shirt Tree installation and leave your messages, thoughts or tributes on one of orange t-shirt paper cutouts. The staff of the Gallery Shop will hang your message(s) in the Orange Shirt Tribute Tree.
Wear your orange shirt as a sign of support and to honour the survivors and their families who have endured grimly and painfully; and recognize the intergenerational trauma that has been caused and continues.
