The Bill Reid Gallery of Northwest Coast Art is downtown Vancouver’s public art gallery named after the acclaimed Haida artist Bill Reid (1920 – 1998). The Gallery is dedicated to understanding and appreciating contemporary Aboriginal art of the Northwest Coast of North America.

The Bill Reid Foundation was established as a registered charity in 1999, its mission being to preserve the art and perpetuate the legacies of Bill Reid. The Foundation seeks to deepen appreciation of Northwest Coast Aboriginal art and work in partnership with the Haida, hosts Coast Salish Nations, and Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal cultural and educational institutions.

About Bill Reid

Bill Reid, acclaimed Haida master artist, goldsmith, carver, sculptor, writer and spokesman, was born in 1920
in Victoria, BC. His mother, Sophie Gladstone, was Haida, and his father, William Ronald Reid, was a Scottish American from
Michigan. Bill Reid was in his teens before he became aware of his Haida heritage.
